Why Halfpace Pictures?
Often when filmmakers decide to make corporate films or music videos they develop separate companies through which they operate in said industries. As you’ve hopefully noticed by now, this isn’t the case for Halfpace Pictures. We produce a wide gamut of films ranging from corporate to narrative all under one roof. You may not have thought anything of this up until now, but there is in fact one fundamental promise hidden behind this decision. Whether we work on a 15 second social media ad or a 90 minute passion project film, our approach, values, and dedication remains uniform. Every film, no matter how big or small receives the same obsessive signature passion.
One of the unique qualities of Halfpace Pictures is the importance we place on story. While many people with good technical knowledge can shoot a nice looking video, it takes much more to make videos which truly resonate, connect and create effective engagement with audiences. And this is what we’re all about. Frank along with the rotating crew of Halfpace Pictures collaborators bring years worth of extensive knowledge and experience in narrative storytelling to each and every project from conception to creation to completion.
Although story is our holy grail, we also recognize that staying on time and on budget are paramount to successful projects and developing longstanding business relationships. We pride ourselves on not only meeting time and budgetary constraints, but also on delivering results that reveal an exceptional use of both. Dating back to some of our earliest attempts at filmmaking – such as producing a feature film over a single weekend on a $300 budget – we have been consistently challenging ourselves to make the most of every dollar and every minute all in the pursuit of creating the best work imaginable.

ABOUT FRANK
Frank Varga Jr. is a Toronto based filmmaker currently finishing his BFA in film production at York University. Frank founded Halfpace Pictures back in 2014 in his hometown of Windsor Ontario through a startup program called Summer Company. Alongside producing many Halfpace projects over the years, Frank has worked in various departments on countless other productions ranging from commercials to feature films. Through these experiences and his formal film education, he has developed an extensive and well rounded knowledge of the filmmaking process.
Most recently, he was selected as one of 12 participants in Pendance Film Festival’s inaugural RISE Canada Director’s Lab program. His freshly completed, Fool’s Paradise is also scheduled to premiere at an emerging filmmaker festival in Toronto in April of this year. Frank plans to produce three new short films through Halfpace Pictures this year, while further expanding the company’s growing list of commercial clients.
